Working With A Toddler Fracture

Toddlers have a lot of curiosity. When something is wrong, they want to know why and how to fix it. Working with Toddler patients can go one of two ways, it can be fun and easy or hard and time-consuming. When it comes to a toddler’s broken or fractured bone the task can sometimes be difficult. We have to calm the patient, convince them to get an x-ray and try to give results to the parents in the best way possible. Here at Central Florida Pediatric Urgent Care, we utilize the best methods and know how to solve issues in a timely matter.

The Different Types of Fractures

  • Buckle Fracture: This occurs when one side of the bone bends. This in turn, causes a  raising to occur (buckle), but it does not break the other side of the bone.
  • Greenstick Fracture: This type of fracture is characterized by a bending on one side of the bone, and a break on the other.

How Can I Tell if My Child Has a Fractured or Broken Bone?

Some of the classic signs your child will exhibit are:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Deformity: which looks like a bump or change in shape
  • At times it may be hard to tell so it is best to confirm with a pediatric doctor

Visiting an urgent care clinic for kids will be the best thing you decide to do once you realize how convenient and easy our services can be. Our hours are Monday-Friday 5pm-12am, Saturday & Sunday 12pm-12am.
